Position Overview:
The Landscape Designer & Estimator plays a pivotal role in translating landscape designs into actionable, cost-effective projects. This position involves a detailed understanding of client requirements and specifications to prepare beautiful designs and accurate cost estimates, collaborating closely with design teams, clients, and contractors. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in landscape design and construction, exceptional analytical skills, and effective communication abilities.

Day-to-day responsibilities include a combination of the following:
The primary responsibility is to accurately assess and provide detailed cost estimates for landscape design and construction projects, ensuring they align with client expectations and financial feasibility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze project specifications and plans to prepare detailed quantity and material price take-offs.
  • Develop comprehensive project cost summaries and present findings and recommendations clearly to potential clients and management.
  • Collaborate with team members, landscape architects, clients, contractors, and sub-contractors to adjust and refine cost estimates.
  • Evaluate the cost-effectiveness of products, projects, and services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as projects progress.
  • Recommend enhancements to cost-estimating procedures to leverage historical data and minimize future discrepancies.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site walkthroughs, weekly production meetings, and bi-weekly meetings with the General Manager.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in CAD and other landscape design software; familiarity with 3D modeling tools is advantageous.
  • Deep knowledge of landscape construction, market pricing, building techniques, and engineering.
  • Ability to interpret and follow blueprints and technical documents accurately.
  • Understanding of construction concepts, scheduling, bidding, and estimating processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills, with a proactive approach to teamwork.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in landscape, construction, and estimating roles.
