Job Description

This position plays a key role in ensuring the availability, security, and performance of the agency’s infrastructure and applications. The engineer will collaborate closely with internal IT teams—including Information Security, Service Desk, Quality Assurance, and Production Support—as well as external product vendors to plan, deploy, and maintain a stable, reliable, and secure IT environment. The Systems/Network Engineer will have direct ownership and oversight of infrastructure and applications, including proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex system and application issues. The role requires strong technical expertise in multi-tiered application architectures, Microsoft Windows Server and client operating systems, and Linux Server environments. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate documentation for systems, processes, and procedures; identifying and addressing security vulnerabilities; and managing multi-tiered COTS applications, public cloud services, physical and virtual servers, storage arrays, security appliances, Active Directory and Group Policy, and secure remote access systems such as VDI and remote desktop.

The Systems/Network Engineer will adhere to established IT Service Management (ITSM) processes for Incident, Problem, Configuration, and Change Management. Regular duties involve ticket management, incident escalation handling, troubleshooting, and clear documentation of operational activities and resolutions. The position requires contributing to continuous improvement efforts within a collaborative, service-oriented IT environment.

Minimum qualifications include extensive experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, a thorough understanding of Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems, and operational automation experience using PowerShell or similar platforms. Proven customer service, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, along with the capacity to work independently in a fast-paced, operationally driven environment, are required.
